"... do not be conformed to this world,
but be transformed by the renewing of your mind."

Romans 12:2

Are you frustrated with working long, hard hours in your business, with little or no time to spend with friends and family?  Are you disappointed that you are not living up to your potential?  Are you not making the kind of money you feel you truly deserve?

If so, the time has come for you market your services with God as your compass.  The Lord desires to move you into a future of abundance, joy, and prosperity.  The Christian entrepreneur of the future must learn to market by faith in order to receive the blessings He has waiting for you.

You have two choices when you select a marketing approach.

You can choose world-based marketing, in which you adopt a worldly attitude of wanting to know the “how to” before you ever seriously consider your dreams and goals as possibilities.  Or, you can choose faith-based Marketing, in which you adopt a spiritual attitude and have a big dream or vision of “what’s possible” in life, followed by Godly-driven actions to make your dreams a reality.

World-based marketing is built around a “doing” orientation, where the belief is that KNOWING and DOING the right thing will lead to success.  The right thing is often believed to be found in marketing methods which reach out to prospective customers, such as direct mail, print advertising, telephone selling, relying upon referrals, or word-of-mouth.

However, that’s a trap you can easily fall into.  “Do more” and what you’ll have is “more of the same” because the end result is usually predictable.

Faith-Based Marketing is built around a “being” orientation, replacing the “doing” mindset.  A “being” attitude makes it easier for you to relate to prospective clients by making promises and taking committed actions to penetrate targeted niche markets.  This attitude leads to unpredictable breakthroughs, miracles, and blessings.  It allows you to get into the natural rhythm of the marketing you must do … marketing that naturally expresses who you declare yourself to be.  That might be publishing a newsletter, conducting seminars, gaining media publicity (articles and interviews), producing CDs, audio and video tapes, giving speeches, launching a website on the Internet, or whatever.

With this approach, the belief is that if you crystallize your dreams and goals in great detail, give them to God, and become them, it makes it easier to accomplish them, thus moving your business to a whole new level of success and prosperity.

Typically, the faith-based marketing program works like this:

You define who you are by declaring to yourself and others the vision and mission God has laid on your heart.  This vision is your destiny, anointing, or divine assignment. Through prayer and study, you then gain clarity on the marketing required to fulfill on your assignment so you can receive the blessings He has waiting for you. You then respond to God in faith by obeying.

With a faith-based marketing program, throughout the whole business-building process, “who you are” is far more important than “what you do.”  This makes it easy for a just and righteous God to work wonderful things in your life.  A.J. Russell, the author of God Calling, says it best, “Faith and obedience will remove mountains, mountains of evil, mountains of difficulty.  But they must go hand in hand.”

Marketing by faith means having a big purpose for your work – your company, which raises the bar.  It means being willing to stretch, change, and modify your behavior patterns, while holding yourself to a higher standard.  Once you define who you are and you are being that individual, you’ll notice yourself becoming a “blessing-making” machine that attracts and serves others.

You get to sow and reap – sow and reap - work fewer hours and make ridiculous amounts of money, all for His glory!

Halleluiah!!

Here’s something to keep in mind when designing your marketing program.

World-based marketing creates the following problems (among others):

  1. Potential clients go out of their way to avoid you because they are tired of people trying to sell them something.  They've heard it all and they're fed up!
  1. Potential clients question your integrity because it seems as if all you really care about is making a sale.  They feel you'll say and do whatever it takes to "get over."
  1. Potential clients tend not to believe anything you have to say.  They feel you care more about your welfare and well-being ahead of their own.
  1. You experience lots of stress and anxiety because you are not moving forward as you would like.
  1. You continuously ride a "feast or famine” roller coaster ride, which is filled with cash flow peaks and valleys, and wicked twists and turns.

On the other hand, faith-based marketing provides these opportunities (plus others):

  1. Your focus is on giving clients what they really want which is unique value - solutions to their problems, desired outcomes, incredible contributions to themselves or their company, or emotional benefits - and you eliminate what they don't want, someone offering the same thing as everybody else.
  1. You are being used as an instrument for God's will because you are focusing on blessing other people.
  1. You establish yourself as a trusted advisor within specific niche markets that make prospects place a high value on listening to you and receiving the information you give them.  In the end, you get to enroll them (not sell) in what you have to offer.
  1. You don't have to chase after business; instead, it comes to you like bees fly to honey.
  1. You find prospects that will completely trust your advice or what you say your services will do for them, and act on that immediately.
  1. You position your company as THE leader on meeting the most urgent unmet wants of your clients.
  1. You discover that marketing is not something that has to be avoided like dead fish on a beach.  In fact, it becomes fun and exciting.
  1. You save money and increase your bottom-line because you don't need to do expensive, traditional, world-based marketing.
  1. You sleep better at night because most of the business comes to you as opposed to you going after it.
  1. You attract clients who want to buy from you before they ever meet with you for the first time because they see you as "everything they’ve been looking for.”
  1. You convey grace and break down any high resistance from prospects to listen to you by a willingness to give away something that will benefit them.
  1. You save time because most of your time gets to be spent on managing all the money you're going to make, as opposed to worrying about how to pay your bills each month.
  1. You gain a competitive advantage by using this approach because most of your competitors are currently doing world-based marketing, if any.
  1. You benefit immensely because you do not market and serve God to get blessed, but you cannot market and serve God and not be blessed.
